They Said It...
I believe in an America where the separation of Church and State is absolute--where no Catholic prelate would tell the President (should he be a Catholic) how to act, and no Protestant minister would tell his parishioners for whom to vote--where no church or church school is granted any public funds or political preference--and where no man is denied public office merely because his religion differs from the President who might appoint him or the people who might elect him.

For conservatives wondering why we progressives are so furious at current events, Paul Waldman explains it as lucidly as any writer I've seen. I wish I had written this essay. ( categories: Politics and Society | Opinion )

Keith Olbermann from MSNBC reacts to the dangers of the Military Commissions Act signed into law by G.W. Bush on October 18, which among other things removes the Constitutional right of habeas corpus from both American citizens and foreign nationals, if the President says they are an "unlawful enemy combatant." Now anyone can be arrested and held indefinitely without trial if the government wants to do so. ( categories: Politics and Society | Opinion )

Stunning legal defeat for creationists in PennsylvaniaSubmitted by Syscrusher on Tue, 2005/12/27 - 09:51.
U.S. District Judge John E. Jones III, appointed to the bench by George Bush Sr. in 2002, has rendered a verdict in Kitzmiller et al versus Dover Area School District. The ruling for the plaintiff is a stinging rebuke to creationists trying to insert religious doctrine into public school curricula in the guise of science.
