Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq, was invited to George Bush's 2006 State of the Union address and wore a T-shirt reading "2245 dead: how many more?" in protest to the Iraq War. When police saw her T-shirt, they arrested her. Apparently the policy Bush enforced during the 2004 election campaign, of not allowing dissenters anywhere near his public appearances, is still the practice. TruthOut has the story. Agree with Sheehan or not, but it should frighten any American to think that wearing a political T-shirt in a publicly-owned building is now treated as a criminal act.
